"About 12 months after the arrival of the new Cameron to the base"
It's late afternoon.
John is outside, far away enough from the tunnels so that he cannot be seen.
He is sitting among the ruins, hidden under a collapsed bridge. He's pensive.
From his back, very quietly, Rudolf approaches.
John sees him when he's close to him, and suddenly turns around.
John	What are you doing here, I thought you did never leave your bunker!
Rudolf	(Sits beside him) I was tired to be there. I was tired of having to be me "the great warlord". I was tired of having to be alone because anyone who came close to me tragically died... I was tired... and I just left!
John	(Keeping his head low) Yeah... I understand you...
Rudolf takes John's chin to watch him straight in the eyes.
Rudolf	(In authoritarian, almost intimidating, voice) Do not tell anyone you've seen me here, understood?
John	OK, as you want. How will they do now?
Rudolf	I left the leadership to someone else... It's in good hands, don't worry!
John	Left in good hands?! (Slightly shakes his head) For how long?
Rudolf	I don't know... It doesn't matter... ...maybe forever...
John	OK, but what will they say? They need to know you're there even more than they really need you, you said it yourself!
Rudolf	Correct. That's why no one may ever know. That's one of the advantages of the bunker: no one really remembers who I am anymore... And more, this has already happened...
John	Why did you decide to tell me all these things, to trust me?
Rudolf	You seem to be out of the world and time... You remind me of someone... Maybe someone I met in another life... (Hinting a smile) Or maybe myself! You're the only one who may help me... ...but before that you have to know something else about me... This must remain a secret..
John	(Nods) OK...
Rudolf	As for you, I'm not who they think I am.
Rudolf takes off his military cap, freeing his wavy black hair, which are long up to his shoulders.
John	But...
He threads his hand down to his throat and extracts something that he puts in a pocket.
He clears the throat 2-3 times.
He removes his fake beard and mustache from his face.
John	You're a woman!?
Rudolf	Yes...
Her voice has changed and settles, still remaining raucous and dark.
Rudolf	I acted as their leader in disguise for a long time... but the military environment is extremely... sexist!
John	How is it possible... ...you're... about 20yo! How can have you been their leader since the war began?
Rudolf	I told you, it already happened... I'm not Rudolf. Not the original one, at least. I took his place when he left. I followed his example...
John	Left?
Rudolf	Yes, more or less as I've done now...
John is thoughtful, saying nothing for a few seconds.
John	Was that your father? The real Rudolf, I mean.
Rudolf	What? No... Not technically, at least... Well, in some way perhaps he was: he has always "been present", for me... (Smiling) Maybe he really was, and has never told me. After all, it doesn't matter... What really matters is that he was a great man. He made us rise from the ruins and the slavery. I continued his work as I could!
John	Why did you come to me?
Rudolf	I have another task to do now. One I could not have accomplished from inside there... ...and I can't do that alone. You're the only one I can trust!
John	So, you didn't have any trusted men there inside?
Rudolf	Well, of course I did, but no one of them would have understood what I'm going to do. You know things I don't know... ...you have experiences I can't understand... All of this makes you have a more open mind, which is exactly what I need... In addition to your skills, of course (smiling to him). And I know you'll help me.

The door of a house opens.
A woman is entering thru the door, she's seen by her back: smooth light-brown hair.
The woman notices something strange. She goes to the lounge.
There's Sarah on a chair. With her left hand she's holding her own right flank, which is copiously bleeding.
In the right hand she has a Glock, that she initially aims to the woman. Then she puts it down.
Sarah	Hallo Felicia.

John	Yes, I'll help you, but I have something important to do too... ...although it has very little to do with this war...
Rudolf	I know you're looking for someone since you arrived here "from nowhere"... I guess you're talking about that...
John	(Lowers his look and turns his head slightly to the other side) Yeah...
Rudolf	Can I ask you who it is about?
He keeps his head down, thoughtful, for some seconds.
John	(With a low voice) She's a friend of mine...
Rudolf	Oh, I understand...
John	What? No, no... (looks at her) No. Not that kind of friend... (Lowers his eyes again) But, in a way it would be difficult for me to explain, she's much more.
Rudolf	You don't owe me any explanation... Do you have any clue, do you know where to start from?
John	I collected many data, but they didn't lead me to anything...
Rudolf	I could help you, if you told me who you are looking for.
John	I don't know if you would understand...
Rudolf	Hey!
John	What about Topanga Canyon?
Rudolf	I can't talk about that!
John	You know my date of birth, and you know that hibernation is a whopper... You know that I know exactly what you have found in Topanga...
Rudolf	If so, what do you want to know?
John	To know?
Waves a long and slow "no" with his head.
John	(Looks at her) Nothing... I'll help you, but then you'll send me back to 2008.
Rudolf	This absurd war is almost over, and you want to go back, to find your friend, and face the war again from its beginning?
John	Do you think it's so absurd? Also, I have my good reasons...
Rudolf	So she may have been a real friend (tapping on his shoulder)... If this is what you want, I'll send you back.
John	(Looks down) OK, thank you... (Looks at her) So, what do we have to do?
Rudolf	A few weeks ago we were in talks with some of "them"... a group of deserters.
John	Let me guess: Jesse Flores ruined everything by sinking a submarine...
Rudolf	(Very amazed) How do you...
John	I told you that I know what you've found in Topanga... ...and I've had the bad luck to meet that psychopath...
Rudolf	She's going out of control... I don't even know where she is now...
John	I buried her almost one year ago...
Rudolf	(Looks at him, even more amazed) You surprise me more and more...
John	What do you want to do now? You want me to be an ambassador for the new negotiations, don't you? Is that why you wanted someone with an open mind?
Rudolf	You'll see... Come with me.

Sarah is still on the chair, bleeding. She keeps her gun down.
Felicia	You! What are you doing here, what do you want? Go away!
Sarah	(Speaking with difficulty, she's sweaty) I need your help.
Indicating the wound with her eyes.
Felicia	You've already mocked me once, and I shoot my husband What else do you want more?
Sarah	I'm sorry for your husband, and I'm sorry to have teased you, but I know I can trust you. It hurts like hell! (She tries to get up but she can't stand on)
Felicia	You can't come to me every-time you get shot, I don't even know who you are!
Sarah	Stab...
Felicia	What?
Sarah	I haven't been shot, it's a stab.
She hardly tries to get up again. She sweats too much and shivers.
Felicia	(Helping her to get up) Come, you're bleeding a lot.
She helps her to get on the bed.
Sarah lies on the bed and says something of confused, then swoons.
Felicia takes off her the jacket. Under it there's the bullet-proof vest.
The blood comes out from the right hip, where there was no protection. It's dark.
Felicia is trying to remove the bullet-proof vest.
Sarah regains consciousness, grabs her hand and screams, then swoons again.
Felicia leaves the room. In a couple of minutes she comes back with a box.
She manages to remove the bullet-proof jacket.
She sees the wound. It's about 4Cm long and 2mm wide: a stab. {1.5 x 0.1 in}
It doesn't bleed that much anymore.
Sarah is always unconscious.
Felicia	Sarah! Sarah! Wake up! (While moving her head)
Sarah	(pens her eyes again for a few seconds) Where....
Felicia	I have to bring you to the hospital, I think it has hit the liver.
Sarah	No, no hospital, no...
Felicia	If it hit the liver you'll die, do you understand!
Sarah	(Puts her hand on the wound) No... No...
Felicia	OK, let me do it...
She leaves the room again.
Her indistinct voice can be heard, coming from the other room.
Sarah	What have you... what have you... (swoons)

In the desert
John	You haven't yet told me what your real name is, since I figure it's not Rudolf...
Rudolf	Oh, yes, sorry... It's that I'm no longer used to use it by a long time... (Shaking his hand while they continue to walk) My name is Terry.
John	Well, nice to meet you... again, Terry... Where are we going?
Rudolf	We have to meet someone.
John	Who?
Rudolf	You'll see...
After some seconds.
Rudolf	She didn't trust you.
John	Who?
Rudolf	Allison. She didn't trust you!

John	(Worried) Who else has seen her?
Rudolf	No one, it was an encrypted channel, and we used some voice modifiers. And I was alone.
John	Completely?
Rudolf	Yes... (puzzled face) That's what "alone" means...
John	Well...
Rudolf	She told me about the absurd strategy you invented to free her not involving anyone else.
John	Well, you told me not to risk your men's lives, and that's what I did!
Rudolf	No, I told you not to risk any one's life, including yours!
John	You're not my mother...
Rudolf	However, don't try to tease me, that's not cause my orders that you went there alone... You didn't want her to return back, or anyone to see her... Why?
John	Say that she risked her life contacting you, and she doesn't even know!
Rudolf has a puzzled face for a few seconds.
Rudolf	When you materialized out of nowhere, we didn't know who you were... I assigned her the task to stay with you, to find out something.
John	Yes, I figured it. A pretty girl trying and make friends with the last arrived... (Hinting a pleasured smile) I'm not so stupid! Who else knows that she's alive?
Rudolf	No one. Allison didn't trust you, I do! I told her to follow your instructions.
John	Well: you saved her life!

Felicia hides Sarah's gun.
After a bit an ambulance arrives, with two men and no siren. They carry Sarah.
Felicia gets in the ambulance, in the passenger seat, while one of the two men remains in the back with Sarah, who is still unconscious.

The ambulance enters into a sort of concrete building. Felicia and the man get out and goes to open.
Using the stretcher, they move Sarah in a very small operating room. She's still unconscious.
Man 1	(To Felicia) You made it right, now we'll care about.
Felicia	Even assuming that she survives!
Man 1	She'll survive...
Felicia	What will you do to her?
Man 1	She'll talk!
Felicia exits and the doors of the room close back.
There are two men in surgical gown on both sides of Sarah.

After some time, still in the desert.
John	Is it still so far?
Terry	No. Oh, John, when we meet who we have to meet, think before you do anything, and trust me.
John	(Strange face) OK... At least, do you know these people?
Terry	Yes, I've already met her once, a few days ago.
John	So she's a woman.
Terry	Let's say yes... John, listen to me, she's one of them! Don't get any weird idea, and don't do anything rash, when we're there.
John	(Smiles) Well, you said yourself, I have an open mind... Does she expect you or Rudolf?
Terry	No, she knows who I am...
John	What will she do seeing that you're not alone?
Terry	I already told her that I wouldn't have been alone, but she doesn't know who I'd have come with, since I had not yet asked to you...
John	(Smiling again) Hey, so you doubted that I'd have helped you... Thank you for your trust...
Terry	You're susceptible... It's just that I couldn't be sure...
John	OK, I'm joking you... How far is it?
Terry	It's here inside (pointing a cavern in the mountain).
They're going to enter inside.
Terry	Remember, don't do rash things, and take your hands visible!
John	Yes mom...

Felicia is outside the operating room, she's going towards the ambulance.
She finds the two men senseless. From behind the ambulance, Cameron appears!
Felicia	(Closeup shot) Who are you?
Cameron looks at her, says nothing, and proceed towards her.
The sound of a hammer that is being cocked is heard.
Felicia wide opens her eyes.
{Larger scale shot } Behind Felicia there's Sarah, aiming a small revolver to her head.
Sarah gives her a transparent sachet containing a small gory object.
Felicia looks the sachet with an upset and amazed face.
Sarah	Who're you!
Behind Sarah, in the operating room, the two men are on the ground, unconscious.
Felicia	(Turns to Sarah) What are you saying, I only wanted to help you... That's you who came to me!
Sarah	You know, at first I thought that the guardian put that thing inside me. Then my friend did a search on the web... And it wouldn't have been easy for him to do a so good job, in an old van... It'd have been necessary a doctor with a minimum of surgical experience, and a more suitable place... So they came into my mind you and a hotel room, where I swooned to then recover my senses with my gun still in my hand.
Felicia	I don't know what you're talking about! I... I only cured your leg!
Sarah	(Waving the sachet in front of her face) Look at this thing very well, and tell me you don't remember it!
She doesn't look the sachet, turns her head laterally, and slightly down.
Felicia	I don't know what it is.
Cameron	I can make her talk.
Sarah	No, no torture, for now!
Cameron	Torture is a very primitive method of persuasion, inefficient, and cruel. Even more, it doesn't even guarantee that what you get is the truth. I don't understand why you still use it. We're not cruel, but we're more efficient.
Sarah	What do you want to do?
Cameron	I prefer to proceed with a method that prevents her from lying us. I've brought everything!
Felicia	What are you doing?
Cameron	You'll see. Skynet spent years to perfect the right cocktail. It's infallible, and it doesn't cause any damages.
Felicia	Cocktail... cocktail of what...
Cameron raises her by the neck and carries her towards the operating room.
Cameron	(To Sarah) Bind the others and lock them tin the ambulance, then come here.

Sarah comes into the operating room.
Felicia is kept on a chair by Cameron who, with the other hand, is injecting her something.
Cameron	(To Sarah) How is your wound?
Sarah	It's only a shallow scratch... Excellent idea the blood bag inside the bullet-proof vest!
Cameron	I read they use it in the cinema... I don't sleep...
Cameron puts a CD in a small stereo.
Sarah	And that?
Cameron	The right music helps to make them talk. I told you, Skynet He studied for a long time the best methods to obtain information. This is one.
Felicia begins to be stunned.
Sarah	How much do you have, of that stuff?
Cameron	Why?
Sarah	Because the doctor who was going to operate me is the next. I think he knows a lot!
Cameron	It'll be enough. Have you tied them well?
Sarah	(Showing an empty bottle of a drug) They're not going anywhere!
Sarah looks at Felicia's face, now stunned, takes her by the chin...
Her head is sagging.
Sarah	(Looks at Cameron) You know what to do here, I'll look around searching for traces.
Sarah takes and grips a gun.
Cameron	(Looking at the gun) There's no one here, I've already checked.
Cameron starts the CD player. A music starts playing.
It's Chopin, Nocturne opera N�20.

John and Terry enter in the cavern.
Mysteriously as always, Catherine appears.
Terry	(Risen hands) I came here to talk to you. He (indicating John, who is on her left, slightly behind her) is a trusted boy.
Catherine	(To John) You could have told me that it was you who'd have come...
John	She told me a little time ago.
Terry	(To John) Do you know each other?!
John	Sure, by a long time... I immediately realized that we were coming here... And lower those hands.
Terry	But you, who are you?! Couldn't we have found you before?
John	(Lowering his head...) Well... yes. I absolutely think you should have found me before...
Catherine	John, you know the way, John Henry is downstairs. We'll arrive soon.
John	OK. (Goes towards the elevator)

Sarah is inspecting the area.
She finds the water men vans, their uniforms, and the water casks.
Stuck to a wall there's a sheet with the chart that shows how to remove a chip from a Terminator.
There are various weapons, ammunitions and explosives: Sarah makes hoarding of them.
Sarah returns to Cameron, who has just finished with the doctor.
Both him and Felicia are still stunned by the treatment, but they don't have any wound.
Sarah	So?
Cameron	Nothing useful: they're mercenaries.
Sarah	Mercenaries?
Cameron	Yes. Ex marines, green berets, cops and so on. Some of them are doctors, but always military ones. Even your friend's husband is one of them.
Sarah	You mean "was", he is dead!
Cameron	No, she shot him in the shoulder.
Sarah	How are they connected to the Kaliba?
Cameron	They don't even know what it is.
Sarah	Have you found out who they're working for?
Cameron	They don't know. They receive instructions on some non-traceable phones, from anonymous calls, and are paid on a numbered account.
Sarah	That's Skynet who is paying them!
Cameron	We don't know.
Sarah	No, you say!? (Giving her the chart that she had put in a pocket) Look at this!
Cameron	This chart is different from the one I have in my memory, it's incomplete and inaccurate, but it's the same that was in John Henry's memories. It appeared when he has been attacked by "his brother". I understand now how they had Savannah's photo: she was there when John Henry has been violated. They're working for John Henry's brother, the current artificial intelligence.
Sarah	Present or future, they are only mercenaries, and someone is paying them. Even if we were to eliminate them, this "someone" would engage someone else. Can you trace where the calls are from?
Cameron	If it's the artificial intelligence who's making them, it's worthless.

One of the men's phone rings.
Cameron answers with his voice.
Tel:	So?
Cameron	She's talking!
Tel:	Well, what do you want us to do?
Cameron	Call everyone and come here, there's something big around. Half an hour. No one can be absent. No one!
Tel:	OK, understood, we're coming. (He hangs up)

John	(Arrives to the server room) Hi John Henry.
John H.	Hallo John, how are you?
John	Fine. Any news?
John H.	Yes, many. I finished to re-elaborate all the data your friend has left us. She did a great job, she has been very good!
John	Well, (lowering his eyes) that's her...
John H.	You haven't found her yet, have you?
John	No... (Rising his eyes) But maybe I have an alternative solution.
John H.	What is that?
John	You'll see... Found something interesting in those data?
John H.	I'll explain all when Ms. Weaver and Rudolf Hellak are here.
John	No, I meant, "useful to me"...
John H.	To find Cameron?
John	Yes...
John H.	Nothing, I'm sorry.
Catherine arrives.
Catherine	(To John) I have to talk to John Henry a couple of minutes, would you mind...
John	I'm upstairs. When you want, call me.

The men arrive and get off their vans, including Felicia's husband.
The doors close.
The men get excited, automatic weapons in the hands. They look around.
From the four corners the gas begins to flow.
In a bit of time the men are all on the ground, and the doors open again.
Cameron	What should we do with them?
Sarah	(While continuing to collect weapons) Let's destroy any evidence of our presence and call the FBI...
Cameron	The FBI?
Sarah	90% of them may be wanted, and the others will be arrested for fellowship. Their fingerprints will match with who knows how many files, and here we have enough to set up many accusatory charges.
Cameron	They will talk about me, they know who I am!
Sarah	(In ironic tone) Well, so I'll go to visit them at the Pescadero! Trust me, they know what'd happen to them if they tried to talk about Judgment Day...
Cameron	No, they don't know anything about it. They think I'm an advanced prototype from a concurrent company...
Sarah	(Looks her with an ironic smile) Let's tie them and go away "prototype"!
They get in the car and leave. Sarah drives.
Cameron	What did they say at the hospital?
Sarah	How do you...
Cameron	I saw the sign of the needle on your arm (Cameron's view analyzes the little hole on the arm, showing some data about diameter and coagulation times), you told me to have booked a check-up, you went out very soon this morning... I did the math and understood that the visit it was for today.
Sarah	You don't miss anything... It's all right... You know, sometimes it's normal to lose some weight when they continue to chase you, to drug and torture you, to kill who's around you...
Cameron	That's stress.
Sarah	Yes, right...
Cameron	I don't know what had caused the cancer that may have killed you in 2005, but you already knew you don't have genetic predispositions. It's so also probable that you have not done what should have caused it.
Sarah	Maybe I ate some plutonium, who knows... For now I'm satisfied to know that I'm fine...

John goes to the canteen floor, where Terry is sitting at a table.
John	What have you talked about?
Terry	You'll know. How long do you know her?
John	It's with her that I came from the 2008. I had just met her.
Terry	And why did you trust her up to follow her?
John	Well... let's say she earned my trust immediately... More than earned... (Low look) This is the last place where my friend has been seen. From here on, all traces lose away...
Terry	Why is she so important?

Terry	What do you mean... Wasn't she a friend of yours until you've lost her?

Terry	I spent I don't know how much time there, in an army of men, pretending to be a man myself, I may even try to understand a man better than another woman, don't you think?
John	(Barely looks at her, shaking his head) Never mind...
Terry	Sorry, maybe I shouldn't have...
John	Forget it... If I had made it clear that she was really my friend, that I loved her... ...she wouldn't have gone away... That's my fault...
Terry	(Takes his hand) You'll find her... Here or in another time, I promise you I'll let you find her back!

Cameron is in the server room. Murch arrives.
Murch	How can you interact with the server if you no longer have the interface we installed?
Cameron	Of course I have it: the chip is inserted inside it. That's the purpose of the central hole in it.
Murch	You had already planned everything when you designed it...
Cameron	Of course.
Murch	So, how does it feel to have been out of here after so many days?
Cameron	Doing different things is useful. But I didn't feel closed here, in these days, if that's what you meant.
Murch	No, I didn't mean anything.
Cameron	John Henry was right: this server helps me to grow. Internet helps me to grow... And, most of all, "you" help me to grow.
Murch	Well, I do what I can...
Cameron	No, I'm not talking about your skills, but about your will to do it.
Murch	Will? Excuse me, why shouldn't I want to do it, sorry?
Cameron	No one has ever wanted to do that, not even John! He risked his life to save me, but he has never been able to want to be my friend...
Murch	Well, with a mother like that (pointing the stairs), I'm not surprised at all! He's just a boy, and his mother has probably brainwashed him since his early age, given her previous experiences (usual strange face)...
Cameron	I know. He told me himself... I mean, the adult John I met before coming back.
Murch	Even more, if he hadn't loved you, he wouldn't have done what he has done. I don't know him, but I think, in his own way, he is your friend, but he doesn't want to show this in front of his mother...
Cameron	Yes, maybe you're right... (Hinting a smile) I finished to elaborate the incomplete projects I had in my memory, now we can proceed.
Murch	Excellent! Tell me what we need, and I'll get it, following the same instructions I used for the server.
Cameron	I've already prepared a list (giving him a paper), it shouldn't be too hard.
Murch	(Looks the sheet.) Perfect... No, it shouldn't be hard...

Catherine silently arrives to the canteen floor.
She looks at them for a few seconds from the stairs, then enters.
Catherine	OK, we can go. John Henry has some news to tell us.
