The king is dead, long live the king!

John is exactly where he was at the end of BtR, with Derek and the others.
John	Where are we, Derek?
Derek	(Furrowing his eyebrows in an amusingly interrogative expression) In the tunnels, where else... Come with us, we're going back... you have many things to explain... (Pointing at his brother with an eye movement) you can keep his jacket for now, you can return it later. I'll introduce you to the squad: he's Kyle, my bro'. The one that was about to blast your head is Phil. She's Vaan, an expert in explosives, while our animal lover is Allison.
John furrows his eyebrows.
He has a sudden terrorized look, with eyebrows rapidly going up.
Flashback from s02e04, AfP, in which Cameron told him that her name was Allison.
John then lowers his eyes.
Vaan	(To Derek) Sir, we have to go.
Derek	Did you hear him?
They leave.
After 2-300m
John	I've lost something, I'll be right back!
He starts running back.
Derek	Where are... (Speaking in a softer voice, in an ironic tone while slowly shaking his head) Kids...
John is back where he met Derek and the others.
He simulates to be searching for something on the ground.
John	(Speaking softly) Ms. Weaver... Ms. Weaver... If you hear me, give me a sign.
Some stones fall.
John	You can't show yourself here now, I'll come back here later, or at most tomorrow, alone.
Weaver	(From an undefined direction) OK, now you have to go!
John runs back towards the squad and he reaches them.
Derek	Have you found what you were looking for?
John	Vanished... as did my clothes!
They resume walking.

In the basement of Zeira Corp, a few seconds after the time sphere closed.
John H.	(Voice from an undefined direction) Hi Mr. Ellison. Good morning Sarah Connor.
Ellison	John Henry? I thought that...
John H.	There's no time, Mr. Ellison. Take the papers from the printer, the backup unit, and the small black computer.
Sarah	The Turk?
John H.	Yes, that one. The backup unit is under the printer. Take the body too, it will be very useful, then follow the instructions. (With an interrogative voice) Mr. Ellison?
Ellison	Yes?
John H.	It has been a pleasure knowing you.
Ellison	(Moving his head from left to right, while widening his forearms keeping his elbows near his body.) What does it mean?
John H.	Now you need to go, do as I told you. A helicopter has just landed on the roof, five men with automatic weapons on board.
On the screen some images of the men and analysis of the weapons appear.
The men have covered faces and are completely dressed in black.
John H.	I'll try to stop them, but I won't be able to hold them for long. I hacked the local traffic signals, so that it's easy to get away from here, but it's too hard to come here by car. Be careful anyway. Go now, I'll take care to destroy everything here. So long Mr. Ellison.
On John Henry's screen:
The men from the roof enter the building forcing a door with some explosive.
They're quickly coming down the stairs: here the water fire extinguisher activates.
The first of the men slips, causing two other ones to fall and slowing down them all.
At the same time
Ellison takes Cameron's body, while Sarah takes the papers and the backup unit.
Sarah then she disconnects the Turk and puts everything in a bag.
Ellison	Be careful with those, they're delicate!
Sarah	And so are we, and what's about to happen here, won't be delicate at all{}, so let's get a move on! My jeep is in the underground garage.
They exit: Sarah carefully carries the bag avoiding any bumps, Ellison follows close behind carrying Cameron's body.

Later, in the tunnels, John's looking outside, although he's mostly staring into the night's landscape.
Derek discretely goes near to him, on his left, and looks up at the sky too.
Derek	So guy, I've never seen you, but you know who I am... Should I consider myself famous, or should I worry?
John	Well, judging by how they obeyed you before, you should already consider yourself famous, shouldn't you?
Derek	You haven't yet told me where you come from and what you were doing there alone...
John	It's a long story. It's... complicated...
Derek	Were they following you? "They", I mean. Were you hunted?
John	They? No. It was me who's looking for someone... Someone who is lost... (Looking at Derek for a moment) Someone "I" have lost. (Looking down and lowering his voice) Someone who is in danger "here".
Derek	Don't worry, if he's here, we'll find him.
After slapping his shoulder, Derek goes away hinting a proud smile.
John	(In a low voice) That's exactly what worries me... (He keeps looking down.)

On John Henry's screens.
Countdown to activate the TDE.
The men keep going down, shooting two guards that were trying to stop them.
An outgoing sphere opens and vanishes, taking nothing away.
The men reach the basement, they are in front of the desk.
Man 1 moves a finger in a circle in the air.
John H.	Hello gentlemen. I'm sorry to delude you, but so long!
Man 3 inquisitively frowns his eyebrows under the balaclava.
Strong electric discharges stun the men and hit the devices, short-circuiting them and causing some electrical fires.
An incoming sphere takes shape.
When it vanishes, nothing is in its place, including two of the men and part of another two. All has disappeared.
Two men are highly mutilated and dead on the ground.
The desk is gone, and a pothole is in the ground.
Meanwhile everything is burning, and computers short-circuiting.
The last man still alive leaves the room, but all the doors are closed.
He's trapped.

In Zeira's underground garage.
Sarah	(Opens the car) Put her in behind, so that she's less visible... (Handing him the bag) And keep this in your hands so that it doesn't take shocks. I'll drive.
Ellison	No, you're wanted, and I'm an ex-agent... (While putting Cameron in the car) Stay behind with her and keep the bag.
Sarah	OK, but if you try to trick me, this time I'm gonna kill you!! (She boards on the rear seat.)
Ellison	I've already told you, that wasn't me who turned you in. (Entering in the car) They thought it was me who kidnapped Savannah, to ask Ms. Weaver for a ransom, so they were watching me!
Sarah	(Sarcastic voice) Your ex-colleagues have a really good opinion about you... Move, now!
They leave.

John is still aloof, alone, sitting on what should have been the sill of a no longer existing door, leaning against the pillar near the corner of a wall that doesn't exist anymore.
Allison approaches him, bringing a military metal plate.
Allison	(Standing in front of him, offering him the plate) I brought you something to eat.
John	(Rising his look just for a second up to her) Thank you, I'm not hungry.
Allison sits down on the same sill, keeping the plate on her knees.
Allison	I heard Derek telling the others to be careful where they shoot, cause there should be someone else missing out there. Is that someone that was with you, someone you know?
John	Yes, that was me who told Derek I was looking for someone here, he should have advised them.
Allison	(Tendering again the plate to John, and picking-up something from it for herself to eat) They are all trained soldiers, they're not "trigger-happy".
He takes something from the plate and eats it, never looking at Allison.
Looks ahead for some seconds, with a slightly blank look, keeping eating slowly, saying nothing.
John	Thank you, but I think I have to go to find who I've lost by myself.
John stands-up and walks away, going back to watch outside
He has the look of someone who is going to do something.
Derek approaches him again, heving evidently seen everything...
He looks outside, as before.
Derek	Hey, guy, how old are you?
John	Why... Well, it depends, what year is it now!?
Derek looks at him for a couple of seconds.
Derek	The person you're looking for, is it a him, or a her?
John	(Hinting a smile and turning his head 45° towards Derek) Why, is it allowed to accidentally shoot at a man, but not at a woman?!
Derek	Because, you see, at your age, I don't know what I wouldn't have done for someone like her (moving his eyes in the direction of Allison), while you ran away... So I deduce you're looking for a her.
John	No, that's not the reason I "ran away" for... I've already seen her, but I couldn't explain where, or why, but... Now I have to go. There's someone lost out there, who must be brought back to a safer place.
He turns around and starts to walk away.
Derek	Wait, you can't go outside there alone, they'll kill you!
John	If I see something I don't like, I go in the North-East tunnel, the one covered with plates. Or run into the North-West manhole, the one signaled by the T-800 head on the pike. I enter it and run thru the tunnels, following the yellow signs on the wall, and not the blue ones... As we did when coming here...
Derek	What...?!
John	My entire life I've been trained to find escapes, to watch, and to study strategies... Don't look at me with that face!
Derek	(Pointing his finger at John, with low elbow and an ironic expression) You... you scare me... If you've decided to get killed, do it when I'm not here. If you want to find who you are looking for, I'll come with you, with a squad.
John	No, who I'm looking for is scared, and would hide seeing someone else. I need to go alone. Can you give me a light, please?
Derek	Take this, spin there to recharge it. (Takes off his bullet-proof vest and gives it to John) Wear this, you're not one of "them".
John	Would it stop one of those (pointing the plasma rifle leaning against the wall next to Derek)?
Derek	No, but it can stop some bullets. If you're going to go outside in the middle of the night, you'd better wear it. Can you use one of these (giving him the plasma rifle)?
John	Hey, I know many weapons, but what is that?
Derek	(Amusingly interrogative face) Where are you from?!
John	From "where", you say... (he begins to put on the bullet-proof vest) I've already told you, it's complicated... (he firmly closes it)
Derek	It's a plasma rifle, very powerful and no recoil... But when you shoot, it can be seen from a long distance, and it's like having a target on your head, if you don't run like the wind! Are you sure you want to go alone, now?
John	Yes. Don't worry, I can manage!
Derek	OK... (Slapping his shoulder) Good luck!
John	See you later.
John goes away.
Derek	(Speaking softly) I hope so...
After some seconds Allison approaches Derek.
Allison	Where is he going?
Derek	I don't know... To find someone, I don't understand who. That boy is so strange, but he knows his stuff! Is everything ready for tomorrow?
Allison	Yes... (Looking at John that walks away) Come and check the details, if you want.
Derek	(Watching outside again) I trust you.

In the present, Ellison and Sarah are in the car. He's driving.
Cameron's body is on the floor, just in front of the rear seat, on which Sarah lays supine.
She's reading the sheets they took from the printer, with her head leaning against the left rear door.
The bag is on her belly, to avoid bumps.
Sarah	Who is this Mr. Murch?
Ellison	Where did you hear about him?
Sarah	It's here, on the instructions.
Ellison	He is a good man. Maybe today he would be defined a "nerd", maybe he's a bit "in the clouds"... ...but he can be trusted, and he is good at his job.
Sarah	And what is, his job?
Ellison	He was the main one responsible for the construction and education of John Henry.
Sarah	Education?!
Ellison	Yes. Doctor Sherman believed the key to his development was "to consider him as a child"... It's an absurd idea, and it scares me, but I know it was working. I've seen the other "things", the ones you know, and John Henry wasn't like them.
Sarah	You don't say...
Ellison	Of course, he wasn't like us, but he definitely wasn't like them, thanks to his education. I was responsible for his education too, as a (in an ironic voice) "man of faith", as Ms. Weaver said.
Sarah	OK, "daddy"... At least you didn't have to diaper him.
Ellison	(Horizontally shaking his head) What does it say about him, why is he named?
Sarah	It says he can help us. There is his cell number, it says to call him as soon as possible and, to give him all the documents and the devices, after we are established in a safe place.
Ellison	I guess you're already thinking what to use as a "safe place"...
Sarah	No, not me. Here it indicates a place that should be suitable for the purpose, in the desert.
Ellison	Are there the directions for this so called "safe place"?
Sarah	It says to go to the ABC bank on Roscoe Street{ }. We'll find further details in a safe deposit box. I know where it is, it's near here, turn to the right.
In a short time they reached the bank.
Ellison climbs out of the vehicle, while Sarah remains in the closed car, hidden and armed.
The slightly darkened windows make it hard to see her inside the car, which is in the shade of a tall building.

John is back where he was when he arrived.
He is away from other people, and he always moves looking around with a suspicious look.
He puts the rifle down to the ground, takes some steps and raises his hands.
John	Ms. Weaver, it's me, John... Ms. Weaver, please, I'm alone.
There's a slight strange noise at his back.
John turns around.
There's Ms. Weaver, dressed as she was in the tunnels just after the time travel.
Weaver	Don't call me that, Skynet knows who Ms. Weaver is... Although he doesn't know that now it's me. Lower your hands.
John	What should I call you?
Weaver	Call me Catherine, and don't call me Ms. ... It doesn't suit my new look.
John	OK... (better looking at her and lifting for a moment his eyebrows) Too "Punk"! (he smiles) Did you find John Henry?
Weaver	No, we arrived a couple of weeks before him, I have to prepare his way. He does not know the situation he might find here, I do.
John	Why did you disappear yesterday, can they identify you?
Weaver	Dogs... It's better not to take a risk. When we have John Henry, we will find the way to use him, and then, perhaps, they will trust me.
John	When we have John Henry... (Lowering his look slightly turning his head) Will we be able to restore Cameron?
Weaver grips his chin with a hand, to look him in his face.
Weaver	You really care about her. You came here, well aware what your place should have been, to find her!
John	I want to take her chip back and go back to reactivate her, this is why I came here! Tell me I'm pathetic, but this is what I'm going to do!!
Weaver	No, you are not pathetic. This is the best thing one of you has ever done for one of us. If there were more humans like you, things would have been much different... Now I understand how you became the leader. That's not just your mother's training, that's you!
John nods a yes, keeping his head low.
Weaver	John, you'll be very useful to overcome Skynet. I don't know exactly how, John Henry will tell us, but I know you'll be very useful!
John	But I can't stay here! I have to go back to continue what I should have done. I have to find Cameron and then to go back.
Catherine looks at him in the face: John is a bit sad, and looks down.
She says nothing for a few seconds.
Weaver	John, you know you can't go back... Not for now, at least...
John	Why?
Weaver	This is what I wanted to talk you about at Zeira. This is why I wanted to see you all and I asked you to come to Zeira. This is why I brought you here, with me.
John	I don't understand.
Weaver	I, on the contrary, understand even more how and how much you'll be useful... How important you'll be to defeat Skynet.
John	But how...
Weaver	How, exactly, is what we'll know when we have John Henry.
John	But I have to go back to take back my role, how will they do otherwise?
Weaver	Well, not immediately. Winning this war is more important, and you'll be the key. For now stay with your new friends, and remain alive. When we have John Henry, we'll know what to do. You'll find me here every night, if you want to talk to me. If I need you, I'll search for you, somehow.
John	Now I need to go back... I want to restore Cameron, anything that can be useful, ask me!
Weaver	Go, and don't tell anybody about me.
Weaver disappears.
John picks up the rifle and leaves.

John is back in the tunnels, still at night.
Derek sees him and approaches.
Derek	You're still in one piece, I see...
John	(Proudly raising his eyebrows) Did you doubt?!
Derek	Get some sleep, you can use one of the free cots. You could be useful to us tomorrow, but only if you get some rest.
John	OK, good night.

Ellison enters the bank, with a folded paper in his hand, and goes to a cashier.
Ellison	Good morning, I need to access to a safe deposit box, please.
Cashier	Sure, the box number, please.
Ellison	Here (giving her the paper).
Cashier	(Checks something for some seconds on a terminal.)
Ellison watches around, discretely but anxiously.
Cashier	Please follow me.
Ellison follows her, they go into the vault.
She types something on a terminal.
Cashier	Now please enter your secret authorization code.
Ellison types the code reading by another paper in his hand.
Some mechanical noises can be heard.
After a few seconds the box appears from the conveyor belt.
Cashier	I'll leave you alone. When you are finished, close the box and push the button to exit (pointing at a green button near the door).
She leaves the room and closes the armored door after her.
Ellison opens the box.
Inside there is a yellow dossier bag, from which he extracts some documents printed on multi-colored sheets.
He puts them back in the envelope and puts it in his briefcase.
From the box he takes a military chain, of the same kind used for name tags, with two big cylindrical keys: a red one and a yellow one.
He puts them in the pocket and closes the box, which is now empty.
Ellison pushes the button and, after a few seconds, the door opens.
Cashier	Please, follow me.
Ellison	Thank you, have a nice day.
Cashier	You too.

Ellison is back ìn the car, where Sarah is nervous.
Sarah	Why did you take so long? I don't like to stay still, knowing nothing about what is going on, with what could be the fate of the human race over my belly... You know, that's something I've already felt for nine months... One time was more than enough.!
Ellison	Calm down!
He starts the engine and, looking around, leaves.
Sarah	What did you find there?
Ellison	(Taking the envelope from his bag and giving it to her) This. And two keys.
Sarah opens the envelope and extracts the multi-colored dossier.
On the cover there is a military-style writing: "Top Secret! - Do not copy".
She starts leafing through the dossier.
Sarah	There are just masses of numbers here, what do they mean?
Ellison	I don't think it would have been prudent to leave the meaning in the same box... Check the other papers John Henry left us.
Sarah returns the dossier to the envelope and puts it away, then she takes again the papers from Zeira Corp.
Sarah	Go to the desert for now, and keep your eyes on the mirrors. And switch off your phones!
Some time later, Sarah and Ellison are still in the car.
Sarah	I think I found something. (Giving him one of the papers) enter these coordinates into the GPS.
Ellison enters something into the GPS, which then begins to calculate a route.

It's morning in the tunnels.
Meeting in progress at the table, while they eat military food, like astronaut rations.
John arrives.
Derek	Hey, loner, good morning.
John	Good morning to everyone.
John sits at the table.
John	So, what are we doing?
Phil	Breakfast, for now... if you can call this stuff "breakfast".
Derek	Shut up and eat, we are lucky to have this to eat...
Allison carries a pitcher of water she just filtered.
John looks at her for a moment, then lowers his eyes.
He leans his elbow on the table, with the hand on his temple, covering his eye, on the side Allison is.
John	No, I mean, what are we doing today... Do we have something useful to do?
Phil	Hey, have you heard him, the boy sure doesn't waste time! What did you say your name was?
John	John.
Phil	Where are you from, I've never seen you before...
John	I think I'm long way from home...
Derek	How is it possible you know me and I don't know you?
John	Well, you can't remember... many years have passed...
Phil	Derek says you are a good observer, you could be useful.
John	Yes, that's an innate gift. Photographic memory...
Phil	So, we know that, recently, Skynet's units are collecting old airplane turbines We think they are related to some new project they are preparing.
John	Why collecting old turbine engines, can't they build new ones? They should have some production lines for that!
Allison hears him and comes near to the table.
Allison	They don't build parts so big, that's not in their infiltration philosophy. The smaller HKs are, the nearer they can approach. They don't have suitable production lines.
John is forced to watch her, but he has a blank face.
Phil	Why they don't produce them is irrelevant: we know they are collecting old ones, and that they're needed for something.
Derek	We must find where and what for. We must follow them to their final location.
Phil	Derek and I will follow them at a short distance, in radio silence, then come back after dark. Some others will follow us hidden among the top of the ruins, to back us up, if needed.
John	OK, but, having no idea of where they're going to take them, how can we know you will not pass through enemy territory... ...or that they won't carry them on a vehicle so you'll no longer be able to follow them?
Derek	Well, young man, we don't know, but we have to try.
Phil	If you have a better idea, tell us now...
John	A tracker {AKA localizer}!
Phil	What!?
John	Yes. We will put a radio transmitter on the turbine, then we will follow it remotely.
Phil	Would you go there to put the tracker while "they" are there? Do you really think we didn't evaluate this kind of solution before?
John	It won't be necessary to go while they are there: we already know what they want, so we find an engine in good condition, put the transmitter inside, and wait for them to take it.
Derek	No, they would smell a rat. While checking the condition of the turbine they would find the signal.
John	There will be no signal. I can modify the transmitter to activate only a few minutes after it is moved.
Derek is thoughtful for a couple of seconds.
He looks to the ceiling, then looks at John.
Derek	Can you really do that? What do you need?
John	Show me what you have, and let me do it!
Derek	(Pleased face) Interesting!

Sarah and Ellison are still in the car, in the desert.
Ellison continues to glance in the mirrors and around while driving.
Ellison	It says there are no streets to go there.
Sarah	And you keep going anyway, why do you think they're called "all terrain vehicles"?!
Ellison	Yes ma'am!
They stop in front of a cavern in a mountain side, it is hidden by the optical effect of the mountain itself.
The cavern is closed by a shutter.
Ellison inserts one of the two keys in a lock of the same color, and the shutter opens very quickly.
Sarah	Go inside with the car, the wind will delete our traces in the sand.
They enter with the car and get out.
They are in some kind of hangar, with some old military devices.
Sarah	What is this place?
Ellison	I already heard about them. There should be many of these places, from what I know.
Sarah	No, I know what you're talking about... I've already been in a similar place, but this is different... It is so... "hidden"?
Ellison	Yeah, hidden... Now I understand what that dossier is, give it to me.
Ellison goes to a huge heavy, two piece, sliding door at the end of the hangar.
He opens a box on the wall, containing a display, two colored locks, and a 70's keyboard.
He inserts the two cylindrical keys in the two locks on the sides of the display, and turns them simultaneously
The display turns on.
It's a green fourteen-segment alphanumeric vacuum fluorescent display.
It resets and shows
After a few seconds the display says:
"Red, 23, 17, 5"
Sarah	What does it mean?
Ellison opens the dossier, at the red section, on page 23.
He searches for row 17, the rows are numbered each 5, and types on the keyboard the 5th number, "9003", then presses enter.
The display now shows:
"Blue, 2, 11, 4"
Ellison finds and enters this second code too.
He repeats all of this for a total of five times, then the huge door begins to open.
Sarah	What the hell...
Ellison	This is an abandoned atomic bomb shelter. John Henry did a very good job... It is not only hardened, but here we have abundant power, plus all the space and the privacy we could need.
Sarah	Let's go inside to check it!
Ellison	Why, it's empty, and if it is not, it contains waste we don't need for now. Let's unload the car and go back to town to call Mr. Murch.
Sarah	OK.
Ellison gently takes the bag, while Sarah takes some other things and weapons.
They move all inside the big door.
Then, together, they take Cameron and put her on an office chair with wheels that was near a desk. They move her inside the bunker too.
Sarah	(Taking the multi-colored dossier) You go pick-up this Mr. Murch, tell him what we have (pointing the bag) and to bring... Well, he will know what to bring... It's better if I don't show myself around for now. I'll stay here and keep reading. Perhaps I'll take a look around. Come back after dark, no lights, no phones and watch the mirrors! Buy this stuff (giving him a creased sheet of paper) and pay in cash!
Ellison looks at the paper.
Ellison	(With an interrogative look) But?!
Sarah	Don't ask...

Ellison checks an intercom which is near the door of the bunker.
Ellison	(Pointing to another one inside the bunker) Go there.
Sarah walks over to the other intercom.
Ellison	(On the intercom) Do you hear me?
Sarah	Yes, and you?
Ellison	(No longer on the intercom) Perfect. Lock yourself inside, do what you have to, at 21:00, come to the intercom. I'll honk four times, answer the intercom and I'll say "spring rolls" Open the door by turning this key (pointing at the one on the right of the display) in that lock near the intercom.
Sarah	"Spring rolls", I understand... Really try to bring them!
Ellison gets in the car and drives away.
Sarah removes the keys from the display, the door starts closing.
She goes inside and remains behind the door waiting for it to completely close.

John is sitting near a table, handling some circuits with various tools. He's closing something.
He stands up with a small box in his hands, going towards his left, while still watching the box.
He's going to collide to Allison, who is walking in the opposite direction carrying some dossiers.
John	(Watches her for a second) Ops, sorry.
He steps aside to let her pass.
Allison	(Looks at him) Never mind.
She smiles and goes away, then turns back for a moment watching John, turns again and continues to walk.
He casts a furtive glance over her, then walks away with the small box in his hands.

John reaches Derek, who is watching outside with binoculars, through a cleft.
Binocular view shows the rubble of the city and the warped carcass of some old vehicles. Nothing moves.
John	All done.
Derek	Wow! Will it work?
John	Successfully tested. I timed it to begin transmitting 15 minutes after it is moved.
Derek	Set it to 10 minutes. Phil and Kyle are looking for a suitable turbine to use as a bait, and for the moment everything is quiet outside. When they find a suitable one, they will go back to put the transmitter in it.
John	Good. (Using a screwdriver on the box) 10 minutes, done. The battery will last about 3 days, from when it starts to transmit. If there is no movement, it will turn off again, so they won't find it at the final destination.
Derek	You study them all...
John	Well, I have to recover the lost time! I'll go with them!
Derek	(Shakes his head) OK... (Looking again outside with the binoculars) Get ready, they're coming back.

John, Kyle and Phil are outside, moving stealthily.
John	(To Kyle) Do you do them often... this kind of mission?
Kyle	More than what you think... (He looks past John) Down!
Among the rubble there is half an endoskeleton, armed, which tries to shoot them.
Kyle shoots him with the plasma rifle, ripping off his head.
Kyle	Is it all right?
He looks at them one by one, waiting for a confirmation sign by each one.
Kyle picks up the head of the Terminator and observes it.
Kyle	This will be useful to the technicians.
He puts the head in the bag, then takes also the weapon from the Terminator and puts it on his back.
John	How far is it?
Phil	(Pointing just over the wreckage) It's right there, look...
They are at the turbine. John opens a box containing some boards, puts the transmitter inside, presses a button and closes again the box.
John	All done, as sonn as they move it we'll know and we'll be able to track them.
Phil	(Nervously looking around) Let's go back, come on, I don't like it here...

Sarah is inside the bunker, she's still reading the papers from John Henry.
She takes a quick look at Cameron's body, which is immobile on the chair.
She resumes reading.
Another quick look at Cameron, then she resumes reading again.
Sarah suddenly lowers her right arm with the papers on the desk, gazing Cameron.
Sarah rises and goes up to her.
Sarah	Not even now you do give me some peace, do you? If it was up to me, I would have already burned you, but my son went across time for his favorite "tin man"!
Sarah picks up the toolbox and takes long-nose pliers.
Sarah	It is better if we do this now.
Sarah removes Cameron's vest.
She cleans the pliers with something from the first-aid kit.
Sarah begins to extract bullets, dropping them on the metallic table, which emits a low thud each time.
Sarah	You know, I never found you too nice... Actually, I never liked you...
Sarah extracts some other bullets, that make noise on the table...
Sarah	I never agreed your methods...
Another bullet...
Sarah	I never understood what you used to do...
...another one...
Sarah	But, at least, I always knew "why" you were doing it...
Another two bullets.
She stops extracting and looks at Cameron straight in her face.
Sarah	And this is not something I could say about many humans... Maybe about no one.
Sarah shakes her head and moves the arms, with the gory pliers in her hand.
Sarah	Now you are also making me talking to a dummy... If they saw me now, they'd have a good reason to send me back to Pescadero!
She starts to bandage the wounds.
She looks at the table, covered by many distorted bullets of various caliber.
She bandages Cameron's left eye too, including the uncovered section of endoskull.
Sarah stands up and starts walking, looking around.
It's a very large area, with no dividing walls, containing some strange and obsolete devices, and old military vehicles.
She doesn't see any weapons.
While walking, she sees a big door. It's an elevator.
She pushes the button, the door opens. The elevator is bigger than a car.
She doesn't enter.
In a corner are stacked some military food supplies.
She picks up a package and looks at the label: expiration date 2010.
She goes back to the elevator and enters.
There are only two buttons, up and down. She goes down.
The elevator takes a while, despite not seeming slow.
It stops.
The big armored sliding doors open relatively quickly.
There is a whole underground army base, on three levels, connected by staircases and by a second smaller elevator.
There is the dining room, military-style kitchen, and some dormitories.
The elevator's floor is about five meters {~16ft} tall and has no internal walls.
On the right side, aligned with the wall, there are some old consoles, with monitors and various switches. It looks like Cape Canaveral.
Near the end of the left side there's the long catering table, for the canteen. Behind it, a big door gives access to the kitchen.
In the center there is a large amount of long narrow tables, with benches, arranged parallel to the wall at the bottom.
Near this are a small stage and projections screen.
One of the consoles is on, showing B/W images from some cameras on the various levels, including the upper one, the entry, and the desert around the mountain.
Sarah observes one of the ventilation ducts: there's a label saying
"Warning: electrostatic self-cleaning air filter inside!"
with a yellow and black high voltage danger symbol.
A very low noise produced by the air movement can be heard.
All is clean in the bunker, there is no dust present.
She looks at the big Nixie-tube clock on the wall: 20:48. She goes back upstairs by the elevator.
She sits down again by the desk, with the papers in her hand.
She rests her head on the wall at her back, closing her eyes.

In the tunnels Derek approaches John, who is watching a laptop showing a map and a steady blinking dot.
John	The fish bit the lure, they stopped about two minutes ago. Now the transmitter should switch off, but, if they move the turbine again, it will reactivate .
Derek	So, guy, it seems you know what to do... ...but why does it always seem like you don't know where you are?
John	Let's say I've been hiding for a long time, away from the battle fields... But it was time for me to do something.
Derek	I see...
John	Tell me, who is in command... Who leads you... All of you, I mean.
Derek	You have really been very isolated, boy... His name is Rudolf, Rudolf Hellak. He's the best of all of us.
John	Do you know him? How is he, what kind of person, I mean...
Derek	If I know him, you say... of course I know him. He is a great man, and a good leader. Watching him you wouldn't think so, he doesn't look like a soldier... ...but he has a good mind, a strong heart and courage. He inspires trust! He made us rise when we were less than slaves, taught us how how to escape, how to fight, how to organize against the machines. There are very few like him!
John	A real leader...
Derek	Right... but a lone man too... By now he doesn't show himself around, too much. It's dangerous for him to be around... Now I need to go, I have to report directly to him about our success.
Derek leaves.

John is alone, watching the monitor and writes something.
Allison	So, it seems you just arrived and you yet proved yourself useful.
She approached him from his back.
John	Well, (raising his head, but not watching her) some help was needed, and I did what I was able to do. Sorry, but...
Allison	(Interrupting him) But now you're going to tell me you have to go...
John	(He looks at her for a moment, turning his eyes towards her) Y... yes...
Allison	What, are you shy, or have I done something to you?
John	No, sorry, I didn't want to offend you. You didn't do anything to me.
Allison	Here no one knows you... I don't know you, but it seems you know more than anyone here. For sure you know Derek. Do you know me too, have you ever seen me before?

She gently puts a hand on his shoulder and goes away.

He leans his forehead into his hand, with his elbow on the table.

Sarah is in a not so big room.
She is disorientated, and looks around.
Cameron arrives, with a light long dress, smiling while looking at a photo in her hands. She gives the photo to Sarah.
Sarah takes the photo and looks at it. There are her and John, with some trees and a mountain in the background.
They're happy, smiling.
She looks again Cameron: she no longer has her skin, but she has the same dress.
Sarah is scared.
Cameron puts her metallic hand on Sarah's left shoulder, caressing her. Sarah is still scared, but she doesn't flinch.
She looks at the hand on her shoulder turning her eyes sideways for a few seconds, then looks Cameron in the eyes.
Sarah suddenly awakes, aiming her gun ahead.
She hears the horn behind the door.
Sarah looks at Cameron, still motionless. She goes to the intercom.

Derek comes back to John, who is at the same table watching the laptop, while also doing something else.
John	No movement.
Derek	Well, boy, you made quite an impression. Rudolf wants to meet you.
John	I've only done I could.
Derek	Come on, let's go, don't be modest, I'll take you to him.
John	What have you told him?
Derek	I told him a boy came out of nowhere and planned the strategy that located the base we were looking for in days... You'll tell him the rest.

They go towards Rudolf's bunker.
At the entry there are two armed guards, with German shepherd dogs, standing.
A guard performs the iris scan, and the heavy door noisily unlocks.
The guard opens the door with difficulty and they enter. After a bit the metallic noise of the door closing at their backs was heard.
They pass through a long corridor, to a second door with another armed guard.
They are checked with a metal detector, and left to enter.

Rudolf	Good morning, young man, what's your name?
Rudolf's back is turned towards them. He's in rest position, holding his hands behind his back.
Between Rudolf and them, about 3m {~10ft} then a desk, with various papers and electronics devices, some assembled and some disassembled.
The bunker has no windows or visible exits. The light comes from the ground, along the walls.
The room is about 5m long and 3m wide {~16.5 x 10 ft}, with a niche in one of the long sides, in which there is a man working on something.
They entered on one of the short sides, while Rudolf is at the other.
In front of Rudolf there is a big map, full of notes.
He stands immobile, about 1.75-1.80m tall {~ 5' 9" - 5'11"}, average build
He wears some army boots and some camouflage cargo pants.
A Beretta 93 is in his side holster, right below the bulky camouflage jacket covering his bullet-proof vest.
A large military beret, and some dark and thin close fitting leather gloves, complete his dress.
John	Connor, sir , John Connor.
Rudolf	Connor you say... never heard of you. Why has no one here ever seen or heard about you, but you are a trained strategist ?
John	Sir, that's because I've been away from all of this. I lived away from the war, as I already told Derek, my mother is a bit paranoid... I'm all she has.
Rudolf	However you eventually decided to show yourself...
John	Sir, I had to do something useful.
Rudolf turns around.
He has a thick dark-brown integral beard, with mustache, on a slim face. He wears some big lens glasses, with thick squared black frame. {OK, no: he is not Gordon Freeman!}
Rudolf	Don't call me "Sir", those are things for regular armies. Here we are a family kid, a family trying to survive.
John	I see. (After a few seconds) They told me you rarely leave this bunker. It must be depressing to always stay here, alone...
Rudolf	Don't think I closed myself in here because I'm scared, or don't want to see what happens outside... I'm not here just because it's easier to plan global strategies from here, with the help of the men I trust more...
Rudolf turns back to the map.
Rudolf	I'm here because people need to know I'm here for them... They need someone to follow, someone giving them the strength to fight... to survive... I'm not a god, I'm not so special... They need to know I'm here maybe even more than they actually need me. I'm just someone who's been able to do the right thing at the right moment. And now the right thing for me to do is to stay here leading the human race to the victory.
John	I didn't mean to offend you, or to be indiscreet, I only wanted to say it shouldn't be good to "always" stay here inside...
Derek	John, it's necessary for him to stay here, he's safe here.
John	(With a low voice, looking down) No one is ever safe...
Rudolf	You're right, no one is ever safe, but they need to consider me "safe", to continue to hope, to resist, to fight!
There's an odd silence for some seconds.
Rudolf	You said your mother is "paranoid", and you have been away from the war, right?
John	Yes...
Rudolf	And now? Where's your mother now?
John	In a place... that can be considered "rather" safe...
Rudolf	What's her name?
John	Sarah, Sarah Connor.
Rudolf	(Turns again towards John) You have her surname... I'm figuring you don't know your father...

Derek	(Puts a hand on John's shoulder, to call him) Sir.
Rudolf	I think you'll be very useful to us. You can go now. (He turns back to the map)
John and Derek go away, but the scene is still on Rudolf. There's the noise of the door closing.
Rudolf	Done? (Always watching the map.)
Man	Yes Sir.
Rudolf	Coordinates?
Man	Topanga canyon.
Rudolf	Topanga canyon...

Sarah is on the intercom.
Sarah	Yes?
Intercom:	"Spring rolls".
The heavy door opens. Ellison is back in the jeep and drives in with it.
In the car is Murch.
Sarah closes the door, while Ellison and Murch get out of the car.
Sarah	No one followed you, right?
Ellison	No, you know I am trained in these matters.
Murch goes near to them.
Sarah	You're supposed to be Mr. Murch, aren't you?
Murch	(Fixing his big glasses on his nose) Yes, in person. Mr. Ellison told me you have something you want me to see.
Sarah	Not me... That's not me who wants you to see something, but John Henry, your boss... and our friend (looking at Cameron's body).
Murch	John Henry? And who's she?
Sarah	Here there are all the instructions they left to us.
Murch	But she is d... dead?!
Sarah	No, she is not dead. Or, at least, I hope for her... She is
Ellison interrupts her.
Ellison	She is like John Henry's body.
Murch is between Sarah and Ellison, he can see Sarah but not Ellison, since he's at his back.
Murch	What? How many are there? And where do they come from?
Ellison nods "yes" to Sarah.
Sarah	From "where", you ask... Wrong question, Mr. Murch. If I told you, you wouldn't believe me. What does this stuff mean (giving him the papers).
Murch	(Looks the sheets for a while) It's a very advanced cryptographic code... Well, exactly it's the decryption key for a code. But, if I don't know what it is for, it's not very useful.
Sarah gently takes the bag. Extracts the Turk and the backup unit.
Murch	Why did you take this stuff? And John Henry?
Sarah	Your friend John Henry has gone away, and Zeira Corp doesn't exist anymore... Tabula rasa!
Murch	Gone away, where?
Sarah	(In ironic pitch) Wrong question again, Mr. Murch...
Murch	Does Ms. Weaver know?
Ellison	Yes, she went to find him and help him. With her son (pointing Sarah).
Murch	I'll get right to work, to understand what John Henry left us. I guess there is no Internet connection here, right?
Sarah	I suppose not. And don't use your cellphone.
Murch	It's already switched off.
He takes his laptop and the backup unit and starts to work at a free desk.

John goes to Allison, who is somewhere in the tunnels.
John	Hi...
Allison	(Smiling) Ah... so you talk!
John	I wanted to apologize for before... I haven't met many people recently...
Allison	So I was right: you're shy! Well, it's a pleasure I made you talk, then.
John	Shy you say? No, it's not that. It's just that... I don't know how to explain...
He leans on the desk's edge, on his hands, and looks slightly down.
Allison	Try.
John	When I saw you, last night... I don't know... It's like an image, something I can't define...
Allison	Like a déjà vu?
John	No, it's more like a dream, a premonition... It's a foolish thought, I know...

After some seconds Phil arrives, sees her look and looks at John too.

Allison	(Still bewildered) OK...

Allison is in Rudolf's bunker. Rudolf is standing in front of the map.
Rudolf	So, have you found something?
Allison	I didn't understand too much about that, it's all so strange.
Rudolf	I see...
Allison	The location?
Rudolf	(Turns towards her) We're done. (Takes a file from the desk) Take this. Inside there are further data and instructions. I want you to memorize all that's needed and destroy it.
Allison takes the file and opens it. She has an amazed face.
Allison	This is impossible, are you sure?
Rudolf	All the data has been checked again and again, but I cannot understand myself how this is possible... Report any news.
Allison	OK, I'll go now.
Rudolf	Ah, Allison... I don't think I need to remind you how important this is and how much being discrete is fundamental. Everything will be more clear after reading that dossier.
Allison	I know that very well.

Ellison and Sarah are far from Murch.
Ellison	What are we doing here, exactly?
Sarah	Exactly... He'll tell us what to do. What we are doing is trying to stop Judgment Day, to stop Skynet.

Sarah takes the bag, puts it on the table, and starts to remove things from it.
A bottle of saline supplement, various boxes of pills.
Looking now and then at the desk, she takes some pills and puts them in the supplement's bottle.
Closes the bottle and shakes it for a long time.
Ellison comes back, eating a Hamburger.
He watches her for a bit.
Ellison	I know you are afraid about cancer, they told me... And I know you've lost weight... But that cocktail won't help you, you need to go to a doctor.
Sarah	I can't go for now... You know, I'm wanted! And besides, this is not for me.
Ellison	Who is it for, then?
Sarah	When, years ago, Kyle Reese told me "living human tissue", I didn't figure he meant "so" living!
Takes a funnel and a small pipe from the same bag.

Murch	(Watching the computer) No, thanks. I've been able to decode the data. There is an instruction file. Actually it explains how to build a new super-computer, like the one we had, using the small black computer, to make him live again.
Sarah	How much will we need?
Murch	Well, it's not stuff you can buy at the supermarket, we need to order it... But John Henry has already found who has it in stock. He says he couldn't order it, because he was controlled.
Sarah	And how much money to buy everything?
Murch	Say about 5 to 7 million dollars, but I must check online for up-to-date prices, and there is no internet here.
Sarah	Seven million dollars!!! Where should I get seven million dollars?
Murch	No, not you: there are the data for an encrypted account, untraceable, containing enough to buy and build everything. John Henry also left us a detailed procedure to follow to avoid his brother detecting and finding us.
Sarah	His brother?
Ellison	Yes, that's how John Henry calls the other super-computer that already attempted to destroy him, via Internet.
Sarah	Skynet! That's Skynet his brother! Mr. Murch, let's build this super-computer, make it even more powerful, if possible! If his brother found him, he can find Skynet! Follow the procedure and order whatever is necessary!
Ellison	Do you want to build it here?
Sarah	No, not here, downstairs.
Ellison	Downstairs?
Sarah	Yes, there are three other floors down, it's enormous in here. (To Ellison) Help me carry everything down, including her. (To Murch) Come down when you want, I'll show you the rest of the bunker.
Murch nods.
