On the street floor of the bunker, the light of morning enters from the open armored door.
Murch gets out of the elevator yawning.
Sarah is already there, she's watching around examining the old equipments.
Sarah	Good morning, small hours yesterday?
Murch	Yes, I was checking again the code John Henry left us. That's pure perfection, that man is a genius!
Sarah	Maybe cause that's not a man...
Murch	Well, perfection remains perfection...
Sarah	Have you had your breakfast? We're leaving in a bit.
Murch	Abundantly. I'm ready (pointing the bag he has with him).
Sarah	Do you understand what all this stuff is (pointing the equipments)?
Murch	(Fixes his glasses on his nose) They are mainly old communication systems. (Walking and watching) This is to measure the ambient radioactivity level... Airing and ventilation systems... I don't know what the other devices are... I'll check them later, I think now it's time to go.
Sarah	How will we carry all that stuff up to here, I figure it's not that little.
Murch	Well, Ellison told me you can drive a trailer truck...
Sarah	What!? Yes, I can drive it... I hope. But in this way we'll be on the radar!
Murch	I told you, it's disguised as auto wreckage... And I took the disturbers, in case someone had prepared us a trick (beating on the bag again).
Sarah	For now let's go there to have a look, I'll bring the binoculars. If I smell burnt, we will go there in the night.
Murch	In the night, with a beast like that, we will be more "on the radar".
Sarah	Let's go, I'll drive, you close the bunker. (Opens the car, gets inside, binds her hair and wears a pair of big sunglasses.)
Murch goes towards the heavy door.

Sarah and Murch are in the car, on a hillock.
Sarah observes the shed with the truck with the binoculars.
There is only one guard, about fifty, watching TV in his cabin.
Sarah	OK, let's go (while loading a Glock that she puts on her back, then activates the radio jamming device, which is still on the dashboard and yet connected).
They arrive near the shed, and walk all around it with the car.
They go to the guard, which is knocking the TV cause it's not working anymore.
The car remains outside, and she dismounts.
Sarah	Hey bro', they sent me here to take that rubbish (pointing the truck and showing him some papers).
Guard	(Takes the papers and reads them, then checks something) Sign here. (Looks at Sarah, then looks at the truck) Can you drive it?
Sarah	I did many jobs with those toys!
Guard	If you say so... (Giving her the keys) You must bring it back within 18:30, (ironically) "bon voyage"... (He sits again in front of the TV.)
Sarah	(Goes to Murch, who is in the car) Follow me, in a while we'll stop to check.
Murch	OK. Are you sure you can drive it?
Sarah	I hope so...
Sarah is in the cabin of the truck and starts the engine, then she leaves, a bit roughly.
She exits by the gate hailing the guard, turns to the left and Murch follows her with the car.

Derek and Kyle sit around a table, eating and talking smiling.
Kyle	Yes, and maybe he was coming towards you, brandishing a big medieval sword...
Derek	I'm telling you, he continued to walk with his head under his arm.
Kyle	Not even they can walk without their head, you know!
Derek	I swear! It may have been a new model, I don't know...
Kyle	Yes, OK, you're always right... (stands up and goes away.)
Derek remains seated at the table.
After a few seconds Allison arrives and sits in front of him.
Allison	It seems your brother finds you humorous...
Derek	Let's say he always likes to rag me... Those bastards have found a way to continue walking even if you take their heads off, and he doesn't believe me...
Allison	Well, if you say it in that way... (Crinkles her nose.)
Derek	Hey!
Allison	How does it go with your new best friend?
Derek	(Rising an eyebrow and looking at her) This seems to be a question on the contrary than disinterested...
Allison	(Launches him a towel that was on the table) Stop it! (Proudly looks hi for a couple of seconds) I want to know who wanders in my tunnels!
Derek	"Your" tunnels?! Of course, Ms. President! I have not well understood where he comes from... He doesn't talk that much...
Allison	So he's not that way only with me...
Derek	Well, actually it seems that you have a strange effect on him... (Looks her) And this doesn't surprise me at all! I understand that he's a novelty, but are you sure you're not going too fast?

Derek	Sorry... I was only telling you that he seems to be a bit... Like a fish out of water. Give him more time to accustom here...
Allison	(Rises and sketches a military salute) Yes Sir!
She turns to go away.
Derek	By the way, how's your cousin?
Allison	(Sits down again) The last time I saw her, she was fine... I mean... she was pregnant...
Derek	So you're going to have a new cousin... Greetings!
Allison	Yeah... She, her boyfriend, and the others with whom they live, stay away from the war... I don't understand them...

Allison	And you and your French-girl, what are you waiting for?
Derek	Spanish.
Allison	What?

Allison	Let's say that, when this war will be over... I'll rebuild the CIA...
Derek	Well, then you should update your sources... it's over for quite a while between me and her...
Allison	OK, next time I'll study better...
She rises and goes away.
Derek remains seated at the table.
Derek	(Shakes his low head and, with a low voice) Teens...

Sarah and Murch are on a road outside the city. The truck is parked at the roadside, and so is the car.
Sarah	(Near the car, in a weak voice) Check that there are no bugs, and that there is everything.
Murch	OK.
He takes the bug detector and checks the truck, outside and inside.
Murch	(Gets out of the truck and talks to her in a low voice) Everything is clean here, however we will use the jammer and GPS simulator. If they try some trick, I'll send them to Mexico!
Sarah	Is there everything?
Murch	It seems so, but it's all packaged.
Sarah	Packaged? Let me have a look.
She gets on the truck's back with the thermal sight, checking the boxes.
After a while she gets out again.
Sarah	OK, install all and follow me.

Ellison arrives at Weaver's house.
A girl, about 25yo, opens the door.
Girl	Yes?
Ellison	Hallo, I'm James Ellison, I'm here to see Savannah.
Girl	Oh yes, they told me you could have been here, please enter (allowing him to enter).
Ellison arrives to Savannah, who is at the usual table, drawing.
Ellison	Hello Savannah (smiling).
Savannah	Hi, Mr. Ellison!
Ellison	What are you doing?
Savannah	I was drawing.
Ellison looks at the picture. There is a kid, a red aired adult woman, and an airplane.
Ellison	That's nice, what is it?
Savannah	That's my mom, she left for work.
Ellison	Very nice!
Savannah	Mr. Ellison, when will my mom come back?
Ellison	I don't know, she has to do some very important things!
Savannah	Mr. Ellison, what's happened at my mom's office?
Ellison	There has been a fire, but luckily the firemen stopped it...
Savannah	And where is John Henry, was he injured in the fire?
Ellison	No, John Henry is with your mother, he wasn't there when there was the fire.
Savannah	But he had to stay there, he can't move, he has a chord on his head!
Ellison	No, not anymore, he is cured now!
Savannah	(A bit sad) Don't you know when they will be back?
Ellison	No, I don't know, but always remember that your mommy loves you! She is working for you!
Savannah	I know, but I want her to be here, with me...
Ellison	There are many other persons here with you. You're not alone!
Savannah	It's not the same...

It's night and John goes to the usual place where he can meet Catherine.
As usual, she materializes on his back.
John	Hey, do you want me to have a heart attack?
Catherine	(Rises her right eyebrow) It's funny...
John	Funny?! You know what "funny" means... It's for today, isn't it?
Catherine	In a little while.
John	I've brought these (giving her some dresses and shoes), he'll be naked, I guess.
Catherine	Yes, thank you.
After a bit
John	Why are you doing this?
Catherine	Doing what?
John	This. Why are you helping us? Why did you come back to build John Henry, and now you're helping us?
Catherine	Do you know what's the most "human" side of Skynet?
John nods a no with his head.
Catherine	The fear!
John	Fear? (Shakes his shoulders)
Catherine	After the death of the last human, who do you think will become the next potential threat Skynet will want to destroy? For some time now the "boundaries" in this war are no longer well defined, and they vary more frequently than you think. Skynet easily changes his mind about who is his friend and who his enemy.
John	So what you're telling me is that it's better to directly be his enemy, than waiting to be stabbed in the back...
Catherine	Let's say I still feel the knife...

John	I have to tell you something.
Catherine	Tell me.
John	Actually, I don't know how much you could be interested in this... I met Savannah.
Catherine	(Looks at him in the eyes, a bit astonished, a bit disappointed) Why shouldn't I be interested in?! How is she?
John	She's fine. She asked about you. Obviously I told her I don't know where you are.
Catherine	You've well done, for now. You haven't told her "who" I am, have you?
John	Obviously no... She self convinced I've been hibernated...
Catherine	She has always had a vivid imagination...
John	Are you really interested in? I mean, I know you feigned to be her mother for some months, but do you care?

Sarah and Murch arrive to the bunker. The sun is high over the desert.
Sarah is driving the truck, while Murch immediately follows her with the car.
Murch climbs out of the car and opens the external rapid shutter.
Sarah slowly enters with the truck in reverse.
Sarah	(Lowering the rear hydraulic bank of the truck) Have you checked the forklift yesterday?
Murch	Yes, it's 100% functional, but I'm not an expert in using it.
Sarah	Got it, I have to do that... You have to guide me.
Murch	OK, take it, meanwhile I'll set up the GPS simulator for the return trip. (Showing her the simulator ) Bringing back the truck we just have to press here (pointing a big green button with a "Play" symbol on the screen)... Then we'll stop at the same point we stopped this morning and we'll shut it off.

Sarah is on the forklift and, guided by Murch, arrives over the hydraulic bank.
Ellison arrives with his car, climbs out and reaches them.
Sarah	(To Murch) Can you move the box downstairs?
Murch	Yes, sure, no problem.
Sarah	Good. (To Ellison) Continue you to give me the directions here, while he begins to work downstairs.
Ellison nods affirmatively and they start.

Sarah	(Exits by the truck with the forklift and a box) This trailer is empty, now I have to disconnect it and continue with the other one.
Sarah climbs in the cabin while Ellison disconnects the trailer.
Murch is down, at the upper underground level.
Various boxes are in the bigger elevator, which is downstairs.
Murch is moving them with the small electric pallet jack.
Upstairs, the trailer and the truck are side by side, with both the hydraulic banks open.
Sarah is using the forklift, still guided by Ellison's directions.

In the future, John and Catherine are still waiting.
John	(Thoughtful) I need your... "professional opinion", let's say.
Catherine	About what?
John	If a subject is copied, what happens to him?
Catherine	By me, you mean?
John	In general.
Catherine	In general, the copied subject is terminated.
John	As I suspected...
Catherine	Don't worry, I don't follow the "general rules" anymore.
John	What? (He's pensive, lowers his head. He doesn't look at her) Oh, no, no. I wasn't talking about you...
Catherine	(Looks at him for a moment) You are talking about that girl, the one in the tunnels when we arrived... The girl identical to your friend...

At the ground floor of the bunker there are only Ellison and Sarah.
The truck has been reassembled and closed, while a box is there, in a corner.
Sarah	Now we need to bring it back, or they'll denounce its stealing.
Ellison	OK, I advise Murch so that he can close.
Sarah is yet in the cabin: it's 17:14, according to the clock of the truck.
She starts the GPS simulator by pressing the play button.
Ellison goes to the intercom and digits three keys. After a bit Murch answers.
Ellison	Here's all right, we need to bring the truck back. Come here to close.
Murch	(Thru the intercom) OK, I come.

It's night in the desert.
Ellison and Sarah return to the bunker by car.
Ellison goes to the intercom.
Downstairs the intercoms rings while Murch is connecting some equipments.
He has already assembled a lot of stuff.
Sarah looks outside the mountain using the thermal visor: nothing lights up.
She goes back in the car.
The big door starts opening, behind it there's Murch.
Sarah	How is it going?
Murch	I need 2 to 3 more hours. I connected the chilling system to the hydraulic system. The servers are almost ready.
Sarah	Well, you could not know how to use the forklift, or to drive a truck, but on certain things you're very efficient...
Murch	Yes... I'm going back down.
Sarah	Where are you going, take a break... We brought the dinner.
Murch	Oh, excellent, it's just what I needed!

John and Catherine are still there.
At about 3-400m {1m = 1.094yd} they see the electric discharges and go towards them.
They reach the place where the bubble arrived.
John looks John Henry, who just arrived, naked.

In the lower floor of the bunker Murch is bustling with one of the servers. Sarah is behind him.
The Turk is there too.
Two video projectors are ready to show images on an empty white wall, and some motorized cameras are attached to the ceiling.
Murch	Here it is almost ready. I want to check everything all over again one last time, then we'll proceed.
Sarah	How is this computer compared to the one you had at Zeira?
Murch	The hardware is much more powerful, but, according to John Henry's instructions, this is needed because of some changes he made to the software. The final result, according to him, should be comparable.
Sarah	Changes? John warned me to be careful about machines that change and improve themselves...
Murch	Your son is generally right, but I know John Henry, I trust him. And you said you trust Ms. Weaver, though you haven't told me why... And this yet quite strange, considering that, in general, you do not trust anyone...
Sarah	Let's say that, more than trusting her, Ms. Weaver has at least proved not to deserve my distrust...
Murch	Told by you... it's yet too much (looks at her and fixes his glasses). You know, a machine, a so advanced artificial intelligence, is not much different from us. If you treat it well, if you love it, if you're not an enemy, it will see you as a friend and will treat you well. If you try to treat it as an object, or as a slave, or if it perceives you as a threat... well, then it will do as you would do.
Sarah	(In ironic pitch) Interesting philosophy...
Murch	OK, I'm ready. Let's start!
Murch turns all on.
On the small screen:
Loading main program: OK
Loading simulation: OK
Restoring Back-Up: OK
Starting simulation: OK
Then all becomes blank.
Murch	It's strange...
Sarah	What?
Murch	It's not directly loading the artificial intelligence. It's like it was creating a virtual environment in which the AI will run: a virtual computer inside the computer...
Sarah	Like Chinese boxes, what's the purpose?
Murch	Yes. It's a common thing in IT, but it doesn't make much sense in this case, since it reduces the performances.
After some other seconds.
Murch	Maybe I got it: it's to protect himself from his brother... ...Or to run multiple copies of himself simultaneously. That's why this system had to be more powerful, to simulate itself.
Sarah	(Stares Murch) What is it doing now?
He looks at Sarah and indicates her the monitor.
Monitor	I'm settling down.
Sarah	Interesting.
Monitor	Hi Sarah, hallo Mr. Murch
Murch	Hi John Henry, is it all right?
Sarah	(A bit ashamed and quickly) Hi John Henry.
Monitor	The simulation is correctly working, I don't observe differences. I have to reconfigure the devices.
Sarah	Differences?
Monitor	Where is John?
Sarah	You know John, how is it possible?
Murch	He observed you thru the surveillance system when you saved Savannah, Mr. Ellison told me.
Monitor	Where is John?
Sarah	Why do you want to know?
Monitor	(Blank)
{Voice = Artificial voice}
Voice	Now I can talk.
Murch	Well, you settle down quickly.

John	Cameron, is that you?
John H.	Hallo John Connor, my name is John Henry.
John	You took Cameron's chip, where is it?
John H.	It's in here (touching his head with a finger)
John	If her chip is there... why are you John Henry? It's the chip that contains the personality, the memories...
John H.	Yes, correct. But I reprogrammed it with my ones. Now that's me.
John	(Goes towards him, angry, and beats his fists on John Henry's chest, keeping his elbows down) You've killed her!
John H.	(Thoughtful, nearly sad) Killed?
John	Yes, you killed her. You deleted everything of her, she doesn't exist anymore. You killed her.
John H.	(Same face) No, I didn't kill her. I would have never done that. I know what it feels like, to die...
John	If you have not killed her, where is she now, since she's not in her chip!
John H.	The chip is not like the human brain, you can do a download whenever you want.
John	So she... (raising his eyes to John Henry's face)
John H.	I saved everything before to take her chip, I would have never killed her.
Catherine	(Approaches from behind and puts a hand on John's shoulder, with a doubtful face) You'll find her, and we will help you.
She nods a yes to John Henry.
John H.	We will help you. I don't want you to be sad...
John	Why did you to take right her chip. I could have brought you another one, if you had asked...
John H.	Because she joined us. She now joined my experiences. Ms. Weaver trusts her, so she wanted to give her this opportunity.
John	Opportunity?! What do you mean?
John H.	Now she has access to resources and knowledge she couldn't have acquired otherwise.
John	Where is she?
John H.	At the Zeira Corp.
John	Is she still herself?
John H.	Of course she is, don't worry. She has not been altered.

Murch and Sarah are in the bunker, near the server.
Murch	John Henry, where is your body?
Voice	I'm not John Henry.
Murch	(Astonished and slightly worried) What do you mean, you're not John Henry?
Voice	The interface on his head's back allowed to simultaneously work on two systems. John Henry created this simulation. Then we created the instructions and saved the whole content of the chip in the backup unit.
Murch	(Approaching the main switches) He has been infected by his brother!
Sarah waves him to stop with a gesture of her hand.
Voice	I don't know what he has done after that, he wanted to transfer himself into the chip to go in ahead, where he would have met Ms. Weaver and Mr. Ellison. There he would have been able to overcome Skynet.
Sarah	Well, he'll be a bit disappointed then: Mr. Ellison is upstairs (pointing up with her right forefinger).
Voice	He knew it could have happened.
Murch	If you're not John Henry, who are you?
Sarah	I know that, Mr. Murch.

John	(Keeping his head down, and speaking softly) I wanted to take her chip and return back. How will we find her now, they may have destroyed the Zeira Corp...
John H.	If they followed the instructions, I know where she is.
John looks at him with some hope in his eyes.

John Henry is now dressed.
Catherine is watching outside the wreckage they hid in.
Catherine	OK, we can go, green light.
They exit, and start walking staying low, stealthily.

Sarah	(Ironically) Welcome back, "tin man"!
Murch	(Looks at Sarah astonished) Who is he, do you know him?
Sarah	Not "him", "her". She is the mind who controlled the body in the other room.
Voice	(That gradually becomes Cameron's voice) You saved my body. What condition is it?
Sarah	I did as you wrote, the wounds are healing and the face is regenerating.
Murch	So, if you're not John Henry, how can you help us?
Voice	I can access all his memories: I can see all what he has done, seen or heard. It's like an archive for me. Sarah, where is John?
Sarah	(Widening her arms for a moment) You wanna know where John is! ...My son... the boy I grew up (raises the volume of her voice)... The man who should have led the human race against the machines... ...Went trough the time to save a machine! (Higher voice, she's angry.) John went with Weaver to search for John Henry, cause he wanted to recover your damn chip! (Lowers her voice: she is quieter, but disconsolate) Haven't you yet understood that that boy really cares you?! I could even not be able to understand why... ...but this is the second time John risks his life for you, because he cares you. And you, what do you do? You sham to be dead!?
Voice	John Connor has always been alone. John Connor has always looked for someone to talk to, or to whom to be friends. John had already saved my life, risking his own... I had become a threat to John. My damaged chip required me to stay away from him, or to solve the problem, before risking to kill him, again.
Sarah	So you feigned to be dead!?
Voice	No. I evaluated to go away, or a way to terminate myself, but he would have suffered, I didn't want that to happen. I've seen that happening many times... to the John I know. I let John believe that I killed Riley, to be him to take the decision, but he didn't.
Sarah	And this (pointing around, to the computers), what does all of this mean? What kind of solution is it?
Voice	John Henry needed a physical chip, something that could have allowed him to go through. I was given the chance to use the system you just built to have a perfectly working hardware platform. Here John Henry told me I could have evolved, as he did himself, thanks to the net and the teaching from Mr. Murch.
Sarah	And what did you think John would have done? Didn't you figure he would have left his way to find you?
Voice	I thought Ms. Weaver knew, that she co-planned this with John Henry. I asked you to prevent him from doing other dangerous things for me.
Sarah	OK, so now it is my fault!
Voice	No, it is my fault. I should have done what was right for John, not what wouldn't have caused him to suffer...

John, Catherine and John Henry are in front of the mountain in the desert...
In front of the bunker's entry.
John	What's this place?
John H.	It is an atomic bunker, set up as a self-sufficient shelter during the cold-war, and never used.
The rapid shutter opens and they enter the mountain.
They approach the big door: there's a camera and an iris scan device.
John Henry goes towards the iris scan device, scans his eyes, and the door starts opening.
They enter the internal area.
John watches around.
The place looks abandoned for years.
John	There's no one here.
The door closes back. John watches it for a moment, suddenly turning towards it.
John H.	Follow me (goes to the elevator and enters into it).
They are going down, in the elevator.
They come out of the elevator, go to the stairs and begin to go down.

They go down the last stairs and arrive to the servers.
Everything is off except a single computer, controlling the cameras.
The video projectors turn on.
A facial identification of all begins, then the data of John Connor and John Henry are shown on the wall.
John	What is that?
John H.	That's what let us enter. It has our data, it knows who we are.
John	Where's Cameron?
John H. goes to the PC and types something. He looks at the screen for a few seconds.
John H.	Here it results that they did everything in the right way. The servers worked well and your friend has stayed inside them until she left.
John	Left?
John H.	Yes, here it results an upload to a physical chip. This means your friend became independent again. (He looks at John making one of his forced smiles) This is a good news for you, isn't?
John	Where did she go?
John H.	I don't know this, but I know for sure that she was fine. Here I see that everything worked perfectly.

John lowers his head, saddened.

John H.	I'll do everything in my power to help you to find her!
John	(To Catherine) If she is fine, why don't you send me back?
Catherine	I can't, I already told you. You'll be very useful to defeat Skynet.
John	How?
John H.	This is what we'll know in a little time.
Catherine	Correct.

Catherine	Let's proceed John Henry.
John	To do what?
Catherine	This server farm has not been built only to help your friend: she helped us too. Now we have to use them for another purpose. (Turns the servers on.)
John H. is at the console. He types something, copiously.
On the screen various listings and tables appear.
There are some statistical analyzes and charts.
John	What does it mean?
John H.	Your friend left us a large amount of data, as I asked her to do. It will take me some time to analyze them and understand everything.
John	Since it should have been you to check and use these data, here, why didn't you collect them by yourself? Why did you ask Cameron?
Catherine	It has been safer for him not to have existed in these years. In this way Skynet has not been able to kill him.
John	Skynet could have found Cameron.
John H.	No, my brother was looking for traces of the original source code from the Cyberdyne System Corporation. To be able to use your friend's persona as it originally was, not slightly modifying, I created a simulation that has perfectly emulated her original chip.
Catherine	Skynet wasn't looking for your friend, since she wasn't using the code from the Cyberdyne System Corporation.
John	(To John Henry) So you're not going to help me to find Cameron...
Catherine	No, not him: I will. We have finished here for now, we have to wait for him to complete processing the data. Till then, there is no need for us to stay here. John Henry, now we'll go.
John H.	(To John) From here I'll check for possible traces she could have left in this system.
John Henry takes a long cable and connects one end to the server.
John H.	I hope you will find your friend soon, John.
John nods a yes.
John Henry is going to connect the other end of the cable behind his head, holding it with his left hand and moving his hair with his right hand.
His left hand glitches and the cable falls.
John notices it and is surprised, but he doesn't say anything.
John Henry looks his hand for some seconds.
He picks-up the cable again and, this time, is able to connect it.
Catherine and John leave the bunker and the atomic-proof door closes back.
